Earlier this month I turned 29 years old! I know, I’m getting closer to becoming a senior citizen! *gasp*
In all honesty, I wasn’t really looking forward to my birthday this year – mostly because it was the same day as Mother’s Day. I am not a mother yet and I sometimes struggle with whether or not I would love to be called “Mami” one day. I know that I would love to be a wife and serve my husband, but thoughts of motherhood make me anxious.
In honor of my turning 21 29 years old, I am making this list so that you can know me a little bit better!
- I am in love with Jesus and want others to know this about me (especially through the way I live and just not by what I say)
- I have 2 younger brothers, which is why I have an overachieving personality and can act spoiled since I’m the only girl
- I get passionate about things very easily
- I work full time at a job that I never went to school for
- I found out that I love travel when I was in my early twenties although I had travelled a lot before then (travel is different as a solo traveling adult compared to being a kid)
- My parents are from Latin American countries (Cuba and Honduras); which makes Spanish my first language
- When I was younger I used to carry a disposable camera everywhere I went to take pictures but I have never had any formal training in photography
- If I had to choose between watching chick flicks or action films I would choose the latter
- When I was younger and living in FL, we lived on a farm
- I don’t like the smell of fish but I love sushi
- I suffered from depression for most of my life & still struggle with body image issues
- If I could live anywhere in the world right now it would be New Zealand
- But if I had to stay in North America it would be Vancouver, British Columbia
- I like to watch cartoons in order to fall asleep
- When I was 18, I moved back to Miami, FL by myself
- Humidity makes my hair look like a lion’s mane #curlyhairproblems
- I am left-handed but can do most things with my right hand
- I enjoy reading in order to escape reality
- I have a desire to tell others about Jesus
- I have stepped foot on 5 of the 7 continents
- Even though I love adventure, I am still pretty cautious about things
- I think that I am an adrenaline junkie
- If I ever get married, I would like to have a destination wedding
- I enjoy cooking for others but do not want to have a restaurant of my own (my parents are chefs and had restaurants when I was growing up)
- I once fractured my foot in Spain but kept walking on it for the rest of the month without diagnosis
- When I was younger I used to have a blog on Xanga (similar to Livejournal)
- I have met a few of my friends from the internet IRL (in real life) and it’s one of the best things to have happened to me
- I was a vegetarian for three months once in my life
- I tear up when I laugh, so much so that people have been confused as to whether I’m really happy or really sad
I hope that you have a better picture of who I am by reading this list.
What is one thing that I should know about you?
I’m with you on the becoming a mother thing. I feel like most women I know are so thrilled to enter that stage of life but I’m feeling like I might not ever be ready or have that desire – it seems like a taboo feeling to have especially in the Christian community though

You’re right – it has been a taboo to not want to have kids in the Christian community but I’m so thankful that the faith family I have are starting to break barriers in that thought process! There’s definitely an awareness that needs to be brought up and there are things that have not been said in the past but now they are. We were made for such a time as this! 🙂

I don’t know if you should know this, but I ripped a desk top off in high school after getting mad at a friend. The teacher just laughed. I do now.

Oh wow! Haha I just immediately thought of the Hulk and how maybe this episode of anger was triggered by something silly!
