The pursuit of our hearts

Everyone is in the pursuit of something that they think will ultimately give them the satisfaction that they long for; some turn to drugs, others turn to shopping sprees. Whatever the case, this never leads to everlasting satisfaction. The continual pursuit of something on this side of eternity never leaves us complete – if it did we wouldn’t be pursuing things in hopes of making us “feel good.”

There is one thing that we can pursue – Jesus. He has already been pursuing us even before we are born! There’s nothing better than being pursued by the one that can love us completely – so much so, that he bore the wrath of God upon his shoulders at the cross, so that we could be reconciled back to him!

Pursue the One that gave us all – freedom, love, acceptance, purpose, a new identity!

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matt. 11:28-30, NLT

How much longer will we continue to pursue the things that leave us lonely and without purpose and instead choose to pursue the one who will satisfy our every desire and give us peace and joy?
